Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an innovative therapy designed to decrease the emotional reactivity and negative symptoms experienced following a traumatic event. ART is a structured treatment that uses bilateral eye movements and visualization techniques to reprogram the way these distressing memories are stored in the brain and body. ART is unique from other therapies in that the individual does not have to talk through their problems or share painful details of the events; instead, the individual recalls the memories in their mind and processes through the experience mentally and emotionally. ART works by replacing negative or traumatic experiences with positive images and sensations - so these memories no longer trigger strong emotional reactions, and no longer cause disruption in our daily lives. Individuals often leave an ART session feeling calm and in control. ART sessions last between 60-90 minutes, and many problems can be resolved in just 1-5 sessions.

Dr. Murn is a Master Certified ART Practitioner and has been providing ART for over 3.5 years. She has seen remarkable results for clients with post-traumatic stress symptoms from traumatic events (sexual assault, childhood abuse, car accidents, etc.), obsessive thoughts, phobias, anxiety, poor self-image, disordered eating, depression, and grief/loss - and many other concerns.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based psychotherapy that focuses on learning and practicing healthier ways of coping, thinking, feeling, reacting, and relating. Most effective through group and individual therapy combined, individuals learn the skills of Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT is effective for those who struggle with emotional dysregulation and mood variability, negative thinking patterns, self-harmful or addictive behaviors, unhealthy interpersonal relationship patterns, and many other concerns. DBT skills are life skills that can help anyone achieve more balance. Dr. Murn integrates DBT concepts and strategies into psychotherapy work.

Dr. Murn is highly-trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, previously directing a state-certified DBT Intensive Outpatient Program at a community mental health center, and facilitating multiple groups in both university and community settings.
